Hi, I'm John

I'm a data scientist at Meta, where I work on messaging products across the Facebook app and Messenger. My focus is the intersection of data and engineering — working closely with product and infrastructure teams to improve performance, reliability, and the end user experience through data.

I studied econometrics and found data science early in my career at the sweet spot between statistics and software. Before Meta I spent time at Deloitte and an early-stage startup, and along the way did a stint on the Reality Labs team supporting the Quest headsets.

Outside of work I spend as much time as I can in the mountains — hiking, camping, and exploring national parks. I'm an avid cyclist and am currently training for my first triathlon, which has pulled me into running and swimming in ways I didn't expect.
